How we protect and handle your information
Last updated: January 2024Look, we get it - privacy policies can be a slog to read through. But here's the deal: we're architects, not data brokers. The info you share with us stays with us, and we're pretty serious about keeping it that way.
When you reach out to us about a project or just want to chat about architectural possibilities, we'll typically collect your name, email, phone number, and whatever details you share about your project. Sometimes that includes site addresses, project budgets, timelines - you know, the stuff we actually need to help you build something amazing.
If you're filling out our contact form or sending us an email, that info comes through our systems. We also use standard web analytics to see how folks are using our site - nothing creepy, just basic stuff like page views and where visitors are coming from.
Yeah, we use cookies - but not the chocolate chip kind. These are just small files that help our website remember your preferences and work properly. Most browsers accept them automatically, but you can disable them if you want. Just know that some features might not work as smoothly.
Here's where your information goes:
We don't sell your data. Period. That's not our business model, and frankly, it's just not how we roll.
Our team members who need it for your project, consultants we bring on board (engineers, surveyors, etc.), and contractors during construction. Sometimes regulatory bodies if we're submitting permits. That's about it. Everyone's bound by confidentiality agreements.
We use reputable third-party services for things like email hosting, cloud storage, and website analytics. These providers have their own privacy policies, and we've vetted them to make sure they meet Canadian privacy standards.
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA, specifically), you've got some solid rights when it comes to your personal info:
We take security seriously - encrypted connections, secure servers, regular backups, and limited access protocols. Our digital infrastructure is maintained with the same attention to detail we bring to our architectural work.
As architects, we're actually required to keep project records for a certain period - typically 7-10 years after project completion, depending on provincial regulations. It's part of our professional responsibility.
If you reached out but didn't end up working with us, we'll keep your initial inquiry for about a year, then delete it unless you've asked us to stay in touch.
Marketing emails? You're in control there - opt out whenever, and we'll remove you from the list within a few days.
We're based in Toronto and primarily work with Canadian clients, but sometimes our cloud services might store data on servers outside Canada. When that happens, we ensure those providers meet Canadian privacy standards and have proper safeguards in place.
Every now and then, we might need to update this policy - maybe laws change, or we adopt new technologies. When we make significant changes, we'll post the updated version here and note the revision date at the top.
If you're an active client, we'll probably shoot you an email about major changes. Otherwise, it's worth checking back here occasionally if you're curious.
If you've got questions about how we handle your information, or if you want to exercise any of your privacy rights, just reach out. We're real people, and we're happy to talk through any concerns.

You also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we've mishandled your personal information. Though honestly, we'd prefer you talk to us first so we can sort things out directly.
Privacy matters to us because trust matters to us.
We're building long-term relationships, not just buildings. Your confidence in how we handle your information is part of that foundation.
